A common myth about deodorants is that they help to reduce sweating. But the truth is many products found on store shelves do not contain an active ingredient to block the sweat glands and therefore do nothing to stop sweating from occurring underneath your prosthetic socks.
Instead, many deodorants mask the smell of body odor with another scent. But since they are unable to actually prevent sweating, these deodorants will only cover the smell for so long – and offer little functional value to amputees..
This is the main reason why many amputees are unable to find a deodorant that helps their sweating problems at all.
