What are prosthetic gel sheaths?

Last updated on
For years, many prosthetic manufacturers have introduced new textile technologies to the standard stump sheath. Impregnating nylon sheath material with mineral oil gel has enabled sheaths to now fight pressure and offer impact resistance. Sharp boney prominences are now cushioned, as well as relieved from friction. Mineral oil gel is also unique in how it moisturizes the skin with essential oils.
