Bodybuilder Flex Wheeler Recognized for Embodying Courage
Ken "Flex" Wheeler received the Olympia Inspiration and Courage Award at the 2020 Mr. Olympia for exemplifying courage when facing adversity.
Wheeler is a three-time runner-up at Mr. Olympia and four-time Arnold Classic Champion. He won several other titles throughout his career and faced numerous adversities, including a car accident in 1994 and a kidney disease diagnosis in 1999.
In October 2019, Wheeler had circulatory vascular problems that led to the amputation of his lower right leg. Despite this, he persevered and documented his rehabilitation journey on social media to inspire others.
During his acceptance speech, Wheeler acknowledged that everyone faces difficulties in life and his challenges are no different from anyone else's. However, he has learned the importance of accepting the things he can't change and changing those that he can.
Indeed, Wheeler is an excellent example of how to overcome adversities with grace and strength.
