Tamarack GlideWear Prosthetic Liner Patch is a new technology to reduce friction between irritated areas of your residual limb and prosthetic device. The GlideWear Prosthetic Liner Patch is intended for amputees who suffer from friction related discomfort or skin breakdown occurring between your limb and a component of the prosthesis, ie prosthetic liner, stump sock or shrinker.
Glidewear Prosthetic Liner Patch consists of two layers of a low friction textile to create a gliding motion designed to dissipate shear stress from normal movements that occur when wearing your prosthesis. The gliding motion absorbs shear stresses that would otherwise cause skin irritation or worse an ulcer. The fabric blend consists of 85% nylon and 15% spandex and easily conforms to the surface of your skin. This prosthetic liner patch works well for above knee (AKA), below knee (BKA) and arm amputees. Place a Tamarack GlideWear Liner Patch on your knee cap, front tibia bone, side fibula bone, end of your femur and/or the back of your knee to name a few.

ChatThe prosthetic textile blend consists of 85% nylon and 15% spandex. Thread is 100% polyester. Does not contain latex.
Place a GlideWear Patch over the affected area. Depending upon which prosthetic products you are using, the next step would be to either roll your prosthetic liner over your limb to secure GlideWear Patch placement or pull up your prosthetic socks or shrinker. Tamarack recommends using a clean, dry Glide Wear patch daily for continuous protection.
Machine or hand wash your Glidewear Patch with mild detergent and dry low settings.
1. Are GlideWear Prosthetic Liner Patches manufactured in the USA?
GlideWear is sourced, sewn, inspected, and packaged in the USA by Tamarack Habilitation Technologies, Inc.
2. How should I wash my GlideWear Prosthetic Liner Patch?
GlideWear can be machine or hand washed and dried, as desired. GlideWear has been wash and wear‐tested under high temperature conditions and frequent wash cycles to ensure long‐term durability. We recommend washing in warm water and drying at standard drier temperatures.
3. How long do GlideWear Prosthetic Liner Patches last?
GlideWear has been wear‐tested to 180,000 rub cycles in bench testing and 100 washing & drying cycles with no reduction in effectiveness. Prevent contact with hook & loop straps (Velcro® or similar) to prevent snagging. If fabric or sewn seam tears, replace with new patch.
4. Are GlideWear Prosthetic Liner Patches available in multiple sizes?
Yes, GlideWear Prosthetic Liner Patches are currently available in two sizes – SMALL (2.5 in. x 4.75 in.) and LARGE (4.5 in. x 7.5 in.). We estimate that the small patch size is sufficient for 60% of user applications.
5. How thick is GlideWear?
GlideWear Prosthetic Liner Patches are approximately 0.035 in. thick, overall, and 0.045” at the seam (sewn around the perimeter), which is slightly thicker than a credit card.
6. How do the GlideWear Prosthetic Liner Patches work?
GlideWear is a unique 2 ply low friction fabric designed to transfer the forces of friction and shear away from at‐risk tissues, and into the layers of fabric, thus providing targeted relief and long lasting protection from skin breakdown.
Avoid Glidewear Patch contacting with hook and loop Velcro to prevent premature fabric wear. Not indicated for placement directly against open wounds. Many Amputees will add a thin layer of gauze or 2nd Skin product if their limbs contain an open wound. The Amputee Store Team strongly suggests consulting your primary caregiver or prosthetist if you have any questions or concerns related to the use of Tamarack’s Glide Wear Prosthetic Patch.
