An Amputee White Sox Fan Catches Ball with Prosthetic Leg
The Chicago White Sox's game on October 3 was anything but ordinary, thanks to Shannon Frandeis, a 27-year-old lower-limb amputee, who caught the home run ball with her prosthetic leg.
Frandeis posted the winning moment on her TikTok account, which showed the crowd standing up and cheering for her as she hoisted her prosthetic leg up in the air, with a big smile on her face.
The video has since gone viral with 4 million views and over 500,000 likes. In the caption, Frandeis wrote: "Five beers in and taking my leg off to catch a ball seemed like a great idea."
She also wrote in the comments that she's always taking her prosthetic leg off at random moments.
The post left the NHL's Dallas Stars impressed as they commented: "A Star in the making." Frandeis responded and said that although she was flattered, being in Chicago, she wanted to hear from the Blackhawks. As of publishing time, Frandeis has yet to hear from the Blackhawks.
Meanwhile, other accounts tagged ESPN, hoping that the sports news channel would include the video in their show. ESPN did feature the video on their October 5 "Cheers and Jeers" segment, with two cheers for Frandeis' "leg up."
