STEP 1: Bottom Circumference

Measure the circumference of your limb 4cm and 30cm up from the bottom. Continue to STEP 2: Find your size

Measuring for Willowwood Alpha SmartTemp BK prosthetic liner.

STEP 2: Find your size - **UNIFORM Profile

Take your top and bottom measurements and use the chart to determine your size. If you're in-between sizes, we suggest remeasuring again to be on the safe side. If the size you arrived at after measuring seems too big or small, in some cases it helps to use the size of your current liner as a very rough guide. The size may be printed on the liner or you can contact our team and provide the serial number printed on the side.

**It's essential to use the same liner profile as your current one unless advised otherwise by your prosthetist.

STEP 3: Length

Length is a matter of preference. You can trim this liner with a very sharp scissors. Start by applying your Willowwood Alpha SmartTemp Prosthetic Liner and mark on the liner where you want to trim. Remove your liner and trim at your mark.

When measuring your thigh, pay special attention to how tight you take your measurement. It's best to pull the ends of your tape measure somewhat tight and then release. Your goal is to find a middle ground of how much tension you should apply to your measuring tape. Too tight and too loose will both result in a poorly fitting prosthetic liner.

SmartTemp Gel Liner BK Description

The Willow Wood Alpha SmartTemp Gel Liner is your go-to solution if you experience mild to moderate perspiration. This innovative SmartTemp liner uses Phase Change Materials (PCMs) to absorb, store, and release heat, maintaining the ideal microclimate for your limb. The SmartTemp liner delays sweat onset and reduces sweat by 48%, keeping your limb healthier and more comfortable. PCMs stabilize your skin temperature, ensuring you stay comfortable all day long.

Benefits

The Select fabric in the Alpha SmartTemp Gel Liner minimizes up-and-down movement (pistoning) and allows circumferential stretch for better comfort and fit. The abrasion-resistant knee panel in the SmartTemp liner provides flexibility and durability, allowing ease of movement without tightening or pulling. The Alpha SmartTemp Gel Liner is designed for easy application and removal, saving you time and hassle, and it retrofits with existing Alpha Liners, maintaining the same profile, base size, and umbrella style.

Suggested Use

Suitable for both Below-Knee (transtibial), the Alpha SmartTemp Gel Liner is engineered for all activity levels and offers two styles: progressive and uniform. Made from hypoallergenic, latex-free materials, the SmartTemp liner ensures no irritation or allergic reactions.

Experience the Alpha SmartTemp Gel Liner and enjoy a cooler, more comfortable, and confident day. Designed with cutting-edge technology and added comfort, the SmartTemp liner is the ideal choice for active amputees. The liner reduces sweat, chafing, and skin breakdown, and its one-way stretch fabric controls pistoning without the need for additional gel support. Choose the Alpha SmartTemp Gel Liner for unparalleled comfort and performance.

How to Use

How to Maintain Your Alpha SmartTemp Gel Liner

Your Alpha SmartTemp Gel Liner incorporates Phase Change Materials (PCMs) that help regulate the liner's temperature by storing heat from your body or the surrounding air. This storage helps prevent the liner's temperature from rising excessively. However, there is a limit to the amount of heat the PCMs can store. Once this limit is reached, the liner will behave like a standard liner in terms of temperature regulation. To restore the cooling benefits of the PCMs, you need to remove the accumulated heat from the liner.

Here’s how you can do it:

  1. Remove the Liner: Take the liner off your limb.
  2. Cool the Liner: Place the liner in a cold or air-conditioned environment for a few hours. This allows the PCMs to release the stored heat. For faster results, you can immerse the liner in a cold basin of water. Simply running the liner under cold water might not be as effective in completely removing the stored heat.

Note: The duration required to release the heat depends on the amount of heat stored and the method you use to cool the liner.

Features & Details

WillowWood Alpha SmartTemp Prosthetic Liner Materials

Thermoplastic Elastomer (TPE) material with Phase Change Materials (PCMs) heat absorption technology.

Directions for Use

Prior to applying your Alpha Smart Temp Liner make sure your residual limb is clean, dry, and free of any soap residue. Cover any open wounds and non-intact skin with a product.. WillowWood states to avoid using any type of animal based lotions or powders on your residual limb or liner. These products may damage your WillowWood Liner.

Invert your WillowWood Smart Temp liner so that the logo is on the inside. Place the end of your liner against the end of your limb. If using a pin lock liner, center the pin attachment on the bottom of your limb. Carefully roll your liner onto your limb.

***Warning: Do not pull your liner onto your limb. Pulling the liner may stretch the skin and result in an uncomfortable fit and possible skin issues along the edge of your liner. Last, make sure that there are no wrinkles or air pockets between the liner and your limb. Air pockets cause excessive sweating.

Care Instructions

Proper hygiene is critical when wearing any prosthetic liner. Your Alpha SmartTemp Liner must be thoroughly cleaned each day and disinfected once a week. Clean the gel side of your SmartTemp liner using lukewarm water and a pH balanced prosthetic cleanser. Apply your prosthetic cleanser with a clean, soft cloth or sponge.

**Warning: Do not scrub your liner on either the fabric or gel sides.

Rinse your Alpha SmartTemp Gel Liner with water and dry it with a clean and lint-free cloth. Place your SmartTemp Liner on a drying stand with the logo on the outside.

Once a week spray the gel side of your liner with ethyl alcohol spray and wipe clean with a lint-free soft cloth. Last, rinse any alcohol from your liner with water and dry again using the above instructions.

Precautions

Do not place your WillowWood Alpha SmartTemp Liner on an open wound. If irritation, discomfort or poor circulation occurs, discontinue use and notify your physician or Prosthetist immediately. Do not wear an Alpha SmartTemp for more than 20 hours daily.

This Alpha Smart Temp Liner is not indicated for any amputee who has a skin condition which can be aggravated when covered by a non-porous gel material.
