Your residual limb is constantly shrinking and swelling as a result of too many factors to mention here.  However, what's important is making sure your prosthetic socket adjusts and changes in sync with your body; regardless of your salt intake or morning coffee. This can be accomplished with stump socks or prosthetic gel pads and sheaths.   Employing gel in specific areas can have the affect of tightening your socket while also creating a pocket of relief for a bone.  Gel products can be a game changer for new amputees, considering their limbs change so fast while in the preparatory prosthetic phase. Many new amputees first experience looseness along the bottom of their limbs and adding additional socks are sometimes not an option because the knee area would become too tight.  In this scenario, a Silipos Gel Roll-on may be the solution. If you need extra cushion along the bottom of your limb or your leg has shortened in length due atrophy, consider using a distal end pad.  If you have any questions about any of our Gel Solutions products, don't hesitate to contact us.
