Silipos Pressure Relief Padding is a 2mm thick gel product with a self-adhesive backing intended by Silipos for numerous prosthetic applications. Grab a scissors and cut out a shape that covers your fibula (smaller shin bone) to provide gel relief for the fibula head. A few amputees commented that they use it over their tibia (shin bone) if they experience irritation towards the end of the day or after a long hike. The self-adhesive is strong, however may not be strong enough for an above knee suction socket. The Pressure Relief Padding adhesive may degrade after repetitive donning using either an ace bandage or donning sheath. ChatMedical Grade Mineral Oil Gel with self-adhesive backing
Clean the area you want to apply Pressure Relief Gel Padding to remove oil and dirt. Carefully trim any desired shape with a scissors. Remove the self-adhesive backing and carefully position your pad and press firmly. There are two schools of thought with respect to placement. If you need to relieve a bone from pressure then place the gel padding just below the area you are trying to relieve. If friction and shear stress is your issue then adhere the padding over the boney area within your socket.
Silipos recommends that you hand wash your Pressure Relief Padding with mild soap and water. Rinse thoroughly and pat dry.
Do not place silipos product on an open would. If irritation, discomfort occurs, discontinue use and notify your physician and/or Prosthetist immediately.
