Take your bottom measurement and use the chart to determine your size. If you're in-between sizes, we suggest remeasuring again to be on the safe side. If the size you arrived at, after measuring seems too big or small, in some cases it helps to use the size of your current liner as a very rough guide. The size may be printed on the liner. Continue to STEP 3: Length

When measuring your thigh, pay special attention to how tight you take your measurement. It's best to pull the ends of your tape measure somewhat tight and then release. Your goal is to find a middle ground of how much tension you should apply to your measuring tape. Too tight and too loose will both result in a poorly fitting prosthetic liner.

Suggested Use

SoftSil silicone is easy to clean, repels dirt, resists stains, and won’t retain odors. Its high heat dissipation helps keep your limb cooler, while its lightweight design supports natural thermoregulation. The liner’s gray fabric minimizes vertical stretch, providing optimal control and movement without compromising comfort. The locking version includes an innovative U-shaped matrix to further limit stretch without restricting the residual limb.

With a seamless, durable outer fabric, the SoftSil Liner offers both longevity and a sleek appearance. Available in cushion and locking options for both below-knee (BK) and above-knee (AK) limb loss. For optimal fit, ensure your replacement liner is 3mm thick.

Read our Prosthetic Liner Guide for more information on prosthetic liners.

How-to Apply

Prior to applying your OptiSil Liner make sure your residual limb is clean, dry, and free of any soap residue. Cover any open wounds and non-intact skin with a product similar to Spenco. Alps states to avoid using any type of animal based lotions or powders on your residual limb or liner. These products may damage your Alps Liner.

Invert your Alps prosthetic liner so that the logo is on the inside. Place the end of your liner against the end of your limb. If using a pin lock liner, center the pin attachment on the bottom of your limb. Carefully roll your prosthetic liner onto your limb.

***Warning: Do not pull your liner onto your limb. Pulling the liner may stretch the skin and result in an uncomfortable fit and possible skin issues along the edge of your liner. Last, make sure that there are no wrinkles or air pockets between the liner and your limb. Air pockets cause excessive sweating.
