When measuring the bottom of your limb, it may be easier to first place a mark 1.5 or 2.5 inches up before taking your circumference measurement, depending up on the bottom pad.  It's common to measure too high on your limb and as a result select a size that is too large.

Alps Padsil End Pad Description

Alps Padsil Distal End Pads are made from non-allergenic silicone engineered for adding extra cushion to bottom of your residual limb. These Alps distal end pads are very compressible under low loads, allowing relief the harshness associated with some prosthetic socket designs. Alps Padsil end pads will maintain their shape over time, can be modified and well as help you maintain total contact within your socket.

Benefits

  • Non-allergenic medical grade silicone distal end pads for the bottom of your prosthetic socket
  • Indicated for nearly any type of prosthetic socket, even inside your prosthetic liner
  • Adds cushion to your prosthesis along the bottom end of your residual limb.
  • Helps alleviate that pounding sensation, especially when stepping off a curb
  • Approximate 10mm gel thickness
  • Accommodates loss of residual limb length from atrophy
  • Alps Padsil is available in 5 sizes S, M, L, XL, XXL
  • Sold each, one per bag

Wearing an Alps Padsil end pad can help increase the comfort of your prothesis. Alps constructed the Padsil using silicone rather than gel providing a more durable end pad. It doesn't absorb friction as well as gel, however alps padding can absorb pressure well.

Suggested Use

Consider adding an Alps Padsil to your prosthetic regimen if you experience excessive pressure along the bottom of your residual limb. Those amputees who have a conically shaped limb, a Padsil will add protection to the end of your bone from abrupt pressure. If you lost a significant amount of volume, either naturally or through weight loss and your residual limb is now an inch or two shorter than your socket, adding a Padsil can help accommodate this length difference.

How to Use

Depending upon your prosthetic design, you can add your Padsil to bottom of your socket or inside your prosthetic liner. Some amputees place their Padils in-between their prosthetic socks. Make sure when selecting your size that the circumference is larger than the very bottom of your residual limb to avoid edge pressure.
