When measuring your thigh, pay special attention to how tight you take your measurement. It's best to pull the ends of your tape measure somewhat tight and then release. Your goal is to find a middle ground of how much tension you should apply to your measuring tape. Too tight and too loose will both result in a poorly fitting prosthetic liner.

Alps General Purpose Liner Description

A comfortable socket and functional prosthesis often begins with your prosthetic liner. Alps introduced the General Purpose Liner to accommodate a wide variety of prosthesis users and applications. The Grip Gel is formulated and intended to accommodate those with hand dexterity issues for easier application.  The softer durometer grip gel conforms to many different residual limb shapes and sizes, while also known for protecting boney prominences. The General Purpose Prosthetic Liner can elongate and gently conform and move with you while walking, lessening the potential for blood flow restrictions for those with circulatory conditions.

  • Alps Grip Gel protects boney protrusions

Suggested Use

The seamless knitted outer fabric has a chic look and its durability helps extend the life of your prosthetic liner. The Alps General Purpose Prosthetic Liner is available in both cushion and locking, and offers sizing for AK limb loss. If you replace your current liner please ensure your current liner is either 6mm or 3mm uniform thickness.

Read our Prosthetic Liner Guide for more information on prosthetic liners.

How-to Install and Apply

Invert your Alps prosthetic liner so that the logo is on the inside. Place the end of your liner against the end of your limb. If using a pin lock liner, center the pin attachment on the bottom of your limb. Carefully roll your liner onto your limb.

***Warning: Do not pull your liner onto your limb. Pulling the liner may stretch the skin and result in an uncomfortable fit and possible skin issues along the edge of your liner. Last, make sure that there are no wrinkles or air pockets between the liner and your limb. Air pockets cause excessive sweating.
