The Alps EasySleeve Super Stretch SLE is a prosthetic sleeve designed for moderately active amputees who have a history of delicate or sensitive skin. The Alps Super Strech SLE is the easiest to take on and take off, out of all the sleeves we offer. It’s so stretchy that it can be removed and applied like a sock. The gel is not restricted in elongation by an outer fabric and therefore it places no constriction on your residual limb. Unlike most sleeves available, The Alps EasySleeve Super Stretch does not have an elastic outer fabric to constrict movement. In the case of the Alps EasySleeve Super Stretch, Alps decided to separate the two sections as a way to further reduce friction and increase circulation in the leg. This design helps avoid the common issue of sleeve bunching behind the knee (popliteal area).

A fabric outer cover is sold separately from the Alps EasySleeve Super Stretch and allows your clothing to lay properly and not “hang up” on your suspension sleeve. Alps EasySleeve Super Stretch is made of EasyGel (same gel as used in Easyliners) that combines softness, strength, and elasticity. This below the knee suspension sleeve provides comfort and durability by increasing the “stickiness” or coefficient of friction applied to your thigh. Alps’s Easygel allows complete freedom of movement and at the same time secure suspension by sealing with the skin without restricting circulation. Alps EasySleeve Superstretch SLE can be an alternative option to using a prosthetic liner with locking pin or you can use both a EasySleeve Super Stretch and liner with pin lock for added security.

Materials

Alps EasySleeve Super Stretch uses a proprietary compound called Easygel and is made from a combination of Styrene Triblock Copolymer & Mineral Oil.

Directions for Use

Although it is not necessary to apply any type of lubricant to your residual limb you may use either Resilience Liquid Powder or Alps Silicone Skin Lotion. Avoid petroleum jelly and other oil based lubricants, as they will damage your Alps EasySleeve Superstretch. Before installing your sleeve, apply talcum powder to the inside of the Alps EasySleeve Super Stretch. Stretch your Alps EasySleeve over the brim of your prosthetic socket.  Slowly work the sleeve down your socket until it covers two thirds of your socket.  Reflect the top portion down to allow room to insert your residual limb inside the socket. Place your residual limb inside the socket and roll your Alps EasySleeve Super Stretch onto your thigh. Many Prosthetists would instruct below knee amputees to roll their sleeves on versus pulling on to prevent any skin from being pulled taught along your thigh.

Care Instructions

Daily: Be sure to clean the Easy sleeve on a daily basis with a light washcloth and neutral/pH-balanced soap, Alps Prosthetic Cleanser PD595 and Amputee Essentials Prosthetic Wipes are especially made for this purpose. Do not scrub or rub the gel during washing, this can damage the gel. Rinse well because soap residue can cause skin issues. Make sure the sleeve is completely dry before using. Wipe the sleeve dry with a clean, dry towel and apply a light dusting of talcum powder to the outside of the sleeve. Weekly: Place a small amount of rubbing alcohol on a soft, clean cloth. Do Not soak the sleeve in alcohol. Wipe the sleeve with a the cloth thoroughly, wipe dry with a towel and apply a light dusting of talcum powder to the outside of the sleeve.

Precautions

Hand wash only, machine washing can damage your Alps sleeve. Avoid petroleum jelly and other oil based lubricants, as they will damage your Alps EasySleeve Super Stretch. Do Not soak the sleeve in alcohol.
