The Alps EasySleeve Super Stretch SLE is a prosthetic suspension sleeve designed for moderately active Amputees who have a history of delicate or sensitive skin. Super Strech SLE is the easiest to take on and take off out of all the sleeves we offer. It’s so stretchy that it can be removed and applied like a sock. The gel is not restricted in elongation by an outer fabric and therefore it places no constriction on your residual limb. Unlike other sleeves that we have available, Alps EasySleeve Super Stretch Sleeves do not have an inner gel layer glued to an elastic outer fabric. In this case Alps decided to separate the two sections as a way to further reduce friction and increase circulation in the leg. This design helps avoid one of the usual issues of having the sleeve bunch up behind the knee (popliteal area). A fabric outer cover is sold separately from the gel sleeve and allows your clothing to lay properly and not “hang up” on your suspension sleeve. Alps EasySleeve Super Stretch is made of EasyGel (same gel as used in Easyliners) that combines softness, strength, and elasticity. This below the knee suspension sleeve provides comfort and durability by reducing the “stickiness” or coefficient of friction applied to your thigh. Alps’s Easygel allows complete freedom of movement and at the same time secures suspension by sealing with the skin without restricting circulation. Alps EasySleeve Superstretch can be an alternative option to using a prosthetic liner with locking pin suspension or you can use both the sleeve and liner with pin for added suspension.

Materials

Alps uses a proprietary compound called Easygel and is made from a combination of Styrene Triblock Copolymer & Mineral Oil.

Directions for Use

Although it is not necessary to apply any type of lubricant to your residual limb you may use either talcum powder or Alps Skin Lotion. Avoid petroleum jelly and other oil based lubricants, as they will damage your EasySleeve Superstretch. Apply talcum powder to the inside of the EasySleeve Superstretch. Invert the EasySleeve so that the inside is facing out and roll the sleeve up onto your prosthetic socket. Place your residual limb inside the socket and roll the EasySleeve onto your thigh. Many Prosthetists would instruct below knee amputees to roll their sleeves on versus pulling on to prevent any skin from being pulled taught along your thigh.

Care Instructions

Daily: Be sure to clean the Easy sleeve on a daily basis with a light washcloth and neutral/pH-balanced soap, Alps Prosthetic Cleanser PD595 and Ottobock DermaClean are especially made for this purpose. Do not scrub or rub the gel during washing, this can damage the gel. Rinse well because soap residue can cause skin issues. Make sure the sleeve is completely dry before using. Wipe the sleeve dry with a clean, dry towel and apply a light dusting of talcum powder to the outside of the sleeve. Weekly: Place a small amount of rubbing alcohol on a soft, clean cloth. Do Not soak the sleeve in alcohol. Wipe the sleeve with a the cloth thoroughly, wipe dry with a towel and apply a light dusting of talcum powder to the outside of the sleeve.

Precautions

Hand wash only, machine washing can damage the sleeve. Avoid petroleum jelly and other oil based lubricants, as they will damage your EasySleeve Superstretch. Do Not soak the sleeve in alcohol.
