STEP 1: Find your size

To determine the correct Ottobock size:

  1. Measure the circumference of your residual limb at 4 cm up from the bottom end.
  2. Choose the Ottobock size, which corresponds to your measurement or is immediately below the indicated measurement.

Never choose a liner size that exceeds your measurement. Example: If the residual limb measures 23.5 cm at the indicated location, choose Caleo size 20 not size 25. Selecting the correct size is very important.

If you're in-between sizes, we suggest remeasuring again to be on safe side. If the size you arrived at after measuring seems too big or small, in some cases it helps to use the size of your current liner as a very rough guide. Continue to STEP 2: Length

STEP 2: Length

Length is a matter of preference. You can trim this liner with a very sharp scissors. Start by applying your Ottobock Liner and mark on the liner where you want to trim. Remove your liner and trim at your mark.

When measuring your thigh, pay special attention to how tight you take your measurement. It's best to pull the ends of your tape measure somewhat tight and then release. Your goal is to find a middle ground of how much tension you should apply to your measuring tape. Too tight and too loose will both result in a poorly fitting prosthetic liner.

Ottobock Caleo Liner Description

A prosthetic liner is often times the workhorse of your prosthetic system, allowing all other components to function as designed as you go about your day. The 6Y90 and 6Y92 Caleo liner were engineered to provide comfort and durability for low to moderate activity below-knee prosthetic users.

Gel

The Caleo Liner is made of a moldable thermoplastic elastomer, or TPE with mineral oil. The result is a very comfortable liner that works to prevent the dehydration of your skin that sweating creates. The medical grade mineral oil moisturizes your parched skin, along with an antioxidant that traps free radicals and hydroxyl groups. You'll experience 10mm of gel along the bottom with 5mm of gel in the front and 3mm in the back.  Please be aware, if you're currently wearing a 6mm liner you'll need to add prosthetic socks to accommodate the thickness difference.

Offered in 5mm Uniform Gel thickness in the front and 3mm in the back.

Fabric

The Caleo Liner in manufactured without exterior seams in the outer fabric.

The Caleo Locking Prosthetic Liner is designed for use with either pin or lanyard locking systems. This locking liner does not include either a pin or lanyard strap.

Ottobock suggests that the Caleo Cushion Liner be used in conjunction with a sealing sleeve such as the Ottobock Harmony or Proflex sleeves. Using this combination should create a suction (vs. vacuum) fit.

You can retrofit most Alps, Ossur, and OWW prosthetic liners with a Ottobock Caleo Liner

Read our Prosthetic Liner Guide for more information on prosthetic liners.

Directions for Use

Check the liner for damage. If a pin is attached, also check the pin for damage. Roll up the liner and place it on the end of your residual limb. Notice** Align a distal connecting element (e.g. pin, metal cap, locking mechanism) with the longitudinal axis of your residual limb. Unroll the liner onto the residual limb without displacing the soft tissue and without leaving wrinkles or air pockets. Do not pull the liner onto your residual limb.

Care Instructions

Ottobock recommends that this prosthetic liner be hand washed with pH balanced mild soap and water after each use. Rinse thoroughly. Do Not bleach. After washing, pat excess water off with a towel and lay flat to air dry 24-36 hours. Turn it inside out to thoroughly dry. If you want to machine dry your prosthetic liner, dry on air dry/low temperature setting. Turn repeated process should be done on 20 minute intervals. It’s not advisable to wear or store your Caleo Liner when damp. It is suggested by Ottobock that amputees use an alternate fresh liner while the other one is being washed and dried.

Precautions

Do not place your Ottobock Caleo Liner on an open wound. If irritation, discomfort or poor circulation occurs, discontinue use and notify your physician or Prosthetist immediately. Do not wear your Caleo 3D for more than 20 hours daily.
