STEP 1: Top & Bottom

Measure the circumference around the middle of your knee cap and 2 inches up from the bottom of your residual limb.  The bottom circumference is the most difficult to measure because it may feel as if the tape measure is sliding off your limb. Continue to STEP 2: Length

STEP 2: Length

Selecting the correct length is critical. If you wear a prosthetic liner, ensure that it extends 2-3 inches past your Liner-Liner sock. Otherwise you may experience suspension issues.  Continue to STEP 3: Find your size

STEP 3: Find your size

Take both your top, bottom, and length measurements and use the chart to determine your size. If you're in-between sizes, we suggest remeasuring again to be on safe side. Most below-knee amputees fit a size regular.

When taking body measurements, you need to use the correct type of tape measure. You will want to use a soft cloth or flexible plastic  tape measure, similar to what a seamstress uses. Do not use a metal measuring tape, used in construction (your measurements will be inaccurate).  Please don't guess, if you still have your sock packaging you can refer to the packaging size tab.  Pay special attention not to pull your measuring tape too tight.  Doing so will produce a measurement that is too small.

The most difficult measurement is the bottom measurement.  Too often, people measure too high along the bottom of their limbs producing a larger "Bottom" measurement.  Ideally, measure 2 inches up from the bottom of your limb and use a pen to mark this level on your limb. Once you know exactly where to measure, use a tape measure to carefully measure your bottom circumference.

Knit-Rite Liner-Liner Sock Description

Knit-Rite Liner-Liner Prosthetic Sock with X-Static is a prosthetic sock primarily worn by amputees who use a prosthetic liner. Typically, wearing a prosthetic liner will make your residual limb sweat profusely, especially on hot and humid days.  Don't fret if you suffer from excessive sweating and don't wear a prosthetic liner, this liner-liner sock will still keep you drier during those hot days.

**Make sure the length of your Liner-Liner prosthetic sock doesn't extend the entire length of your prosthetic liner. When selecting a length, choose a length that is 2 inches less than the length of your prosthetic liner.  Otherwise, you may experience suspension issues.**

Benefits

The idea behind the Liner-Liner prosthetic sock is to promote skin integrity and hygiene. Knit-Rite Liner-Liner sock accomplishes this by employing prosthetic textiles such X-Static and polyester that reduce odor, absorb friction and inhibit growth of bacteria. Liner-Liner’s thin profile (less than 1 Ply) ensures it will not inhibit suspension of your gel prosthetic liner.

Suggested Use

The Liner-Liner prosthetic sock was designed for use underneath your prosthetic liner. Wearing a prosthesis can make you sweat endlessly and using a Liner Liner sock can help manage sweating with a two prong approach when you use an antiperspirant as well.

Many prosthetic users have found benefits that go beyond managing sweating and use the Liner-Liner to alleviate irritated skin and rashes between your skin and prosthetic liner. Using this sock between your liner will create a barrier between your skin and gel material of your prosthetic liner.

How-to Apply

Apply antiperspirant at night before bedtime. In the morning, apply your Liner-Liner Sock as the first prosthetic supply, before any liners, socks and so on. Do not pull the Liner-Liner sock too taught, as this may create thin areas that will not be as effective in wicking sweat. Last, apply your remaining prosthetic supplies.
