Alps Silicone Skin Lotion is a hypoallergenic moisturizer formulated for Amputees. As we all know wearing an prosthesis can lead to painful dry skin because your skin has difficulty producing enough lubrication through its oil glands. The dry skin on your residual limb has a low level of sebum and can be prone to skin sensitivity and has a parched look caused by its inability to retain moisture. The skin over the end of your residuum usually feels "tight" and uncomfortable after washing unless some type of skin lotion is applied.
Chapping and cracking are signs of extremely dry, dehydrated skin and small amounts of Alps Silicone Prosthetic Skin Lotion moisturizer should be applied. Dryness is exacerbated by extremes of temperature and excessive perspiration, all of which cause the skin to flake, chap and feel tight. This type of skin is tightly drawn over bones and looks dull. Many Amputees have expressed positive results when cleansing their residual limb(s) with Alps Prosthetic Cleanser and then applying one of the best skin care lotions for amputees, Alps Prosthetic Silicone Skin Lotion.
