STEP 1: Thigh Measurement

Measure the circumference of your thigh 4 inches (10 cm) above the middle of your knee cap. Continue to STEP 2: Find your size

How to measure alps clearline reinforced sleeve.

STEP 2: Find your size

Take your thigh circumference and use the chart to determine your size. If you're in-between sizes, we suggest remeasuring again to be on safe side.

SIZE CIRCUMFERENCE (in)
1 12 - 14
2 14 - 16
3 16 - 18
4 18 - 21
5 21 - 22

When taking body measurements, you need to use the correct type of tape measure. You will want to use a soft cloth or flexible plastic tape measure, similar to what a seamstress uses. Do not use a metal measuring tape, used in construction (your measurements will be inaccurate).

Pay special attention not to pull your measuring tape too tight. Doing so will produce a measurement that is too small. The most difficult measurement is the bottom measurement. Too often, people measure too high along the bottom of their limbs producing a larger "Bottom" measurement. Ideally, measure 2 inches up from the bottom of your limb and use a pen to mark this level on your limb. Once you know exactly where to measure, use a tape measure to carefully measure your bottom circumference.

Diamond Sleeve Description

Amputee Essentials Alliance Diamond Sleeve is a neoprene reinforced prosthetic sleeve intended for below-knee prosthesis users and is compatible with suction and shuttle lock suspension systems. Diamond Sleeve offers an airtight suction fit for those moderate-to-highly active amputees.

The Diamond Sleeve is not your average neoprene suspension sleeve for amputees and is constructed with abrasion resistant fabric.  The outer fabric covering not only withstands wear, but also offers increased tearing and bursting strength.  The included sleeve saver reduces wear and tear from sharp prosthetic trimelines and the sleeve's seams are glued and stitched for extra durability. Expect durable and reliable performance from your Diamond Sleeve.

We would like to bring to your attention an important consideration regarding the usage of neoprene suspension sleeves as a replacement for a gel or silicone sleeves. Each of these materials functions distinctly in suspending your prosthesis, and it is essential to be aware of their unique characteristics.

Neoprene or latex sleeves, in particular, employ compression, friction, and some even offer suction to effectively suspend your prosthetic leg. Consequently, transitioning from a gel or silicone sleeve to a neoprene sleeve can present certain challenges. Due to their differing properties, a neoprene sleeve may feel considerably tighter or possibly excessively snug when compared to the more pliant nature of gel-like materials.

Please read our Prosthetic Sleeve Material Primer for more information.

Benefits

  • Abrasion resistant outer fabric withstands surface wear from rubbing, extending the life of your suction sleeve
  • Specially coated neoprene that resists cracking and crumbling
  • Multi-directional stretch allowing complete freedom of movement
  • Included Sleeve Saver (gaitor) to protect your sleeve against prosthetic socket trimelines
  • Pre-flexed 15 degrees to reduce discomfort along your kneecap and prevent suction loss
  • Diamond Sleeve is available in 3/16” (4.8mm) heavy duty thickness
  • Forms an airtight hypobaric suction suspension to significantly reduce pistoning over other neoprene sleeves
  • Sewn and glued seam for extra durability
  • **Not intended for Vacuum Systems
  • Black color abrasion resistant outer fabric
  • Sold each with nylon Sleeve Saver (gaitor) included

Suggested Use

Amputee Essentials constructed this suspension sleeve with a pre-flexed shape, enhancing suspension by preventing knee bunching in the back and folding of the neoprene that typically occurs. This pre-flexed posture allows for better suction suspension because the multi-direction neoprene will move with you and not separate from your thigh. The Alliance Diamond Sleeve was thoughtfully created without seams over your kneecap to provide greater comfort and less skin irritation.

How-to Install and Apply

  1. Apply the included sleeve saver over the top of your prosthetic socket; tension band end down.
  2. Beginning with the bottom, turn your sleeve inside out halfway. Maintain front-to-back orientation.
  3. Align the front of your sleeve over the top of the socket; begin stretching your sleeve over the socket brim and sleeve saver.
  4. Fold the lower half of your sleeve right side out over the socket. Roll top of sleeve down and apply prosthesis.
